The fishing industry together with the CSIR started a research centre called the Fishing Industry Research Institute (FIRI) in 1947. This institute was controlled and funded by the fishing industry and operated as such until 1995. In 1995 the CSIR purchased the institue from the fishing industry as a research centre and operated it for ten years. In 2005 the CSIR restructured and the food engineering and consulting section was closed down. This gave birth to FIRI Consulting.
With the long research history of the old FIRI, and all of the work that was done for the fishing industry, a haven was sought for the research papers produced since 1947. FIRI Consutling was asked by the fishing industry to be the custodians of these documents.
FIRI Consulting is a closed corporation that started trading on the 1st of September 2005.
In 2006 we signed a Business to Business agreement with a Danish technology provider, The Danish Technological Institute. This allows us to present you with more solutions to your problems.
